First Mate #1 - Seconds

The First Mate has been made to imitate the heft and the versatility of the boarding axe which was used throughout history as an essential item for close quarters naval warfare. An axe such as this would need to be heavyset and durable relying on the sharp spike at the rear of the head to devastate barricades as well as its keen edge to break up flaming timber and aid those who wield it in combat .The head of the axe is made from durable high carbon steel and has been adorned with a striking knotwork design. To finish, the blade has been sharpened to a cutting edge and has been hafted on a 47cm half charred length of English Ash.
